Online casino play is legal in Ontario on sites that belong to the province's regulated market. This page explains how to tell which sites those are.
The regulated market
Regulated online gambling in Ontario began on April 4, 2022. The work is split between two bodies with different roles. Conducting and managing the market falls to iGaming Ontario. Regulating it is the job of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, the AGCO. Both names come up again below, since iGaming Ontario also publishes the list of regulated sites.
The legal age is 19, for online gambling and for casinos alike. That matches the line drawn at the doors of Pickering Casino Resort and Casino Ajax. On entry, each venue asks guests for two kinds of photo ID: one valid, original and government-issued, and a secondary photo ID. Online, the same age of 19 applies to every account holder.
Checking a site
At igamingontario.ca, iGaming Ontario posts which online gambling sites are regulated. Checking a site starts with finding its name there. A site missing from that list falls outside Ontario's regulated market. A polished design or an Ontario address in the footer does not change that.
OLG.ca serves as the online site of the provincial agency, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. BetGuard, covered below, includes OLG.ca in its exclusions. The iGaming Ontario list is where a site's standing gets confirmed, one name at a time.
Stopping and getting help
Through BetGuard, at betguard.ca, a person can block themselves from every regulated Ontario gambling site, OLG.ca included. Operation has rested with iGaming Ontario since May 14, 2026. Durations differ, with a choice of 5 years, 6 months, 1 year or a custom span. Land-based casinos fall outside it.
Casino self-exclusion comes through OLG's My PlayBreak, with terms of 3 or 6 months, or any length between 1 and 5 years. Sign-up is handled by the OLG Support Centre on 1-800-387-0098, through staff at the venue or at a PlaySmart Centre. Once a term starts, it cannot be cut short. Free, confidential ConnexOntario help, 24/7, by phone at 1-866-531-2600, by text with CONNEX to 247247, or by chat on connexontario.ca.
Paid links on this site
This guide works independently of any operator and is not a casino: no wagers are handled and no customer accounts are kept. The home page alone carries paid links, each labelled Ad. Every one of the three leads to one online casino partner. They sit in the menu, under the opening screen and near the page's end. That partner, which can be replaced, pays the site a commission. This page carries no paid links.
